Ophiuchus, the thirteenth Zodiac Star Sign

Ophiuchus, the Serpent Wrestler, is seen as the thirteenth sign of the Zodiac but is shunned by Astrologers who are only interested in the original twelve signs of the Zodiac. Details and explanation why Ophiuchus is shunned.

-

Ophiuchus, the Serpent Wrestler is known by some as the Thirteenth Sign of the Zodiac. We are all familiar with the twelve Zodiac signs, created about 2000 years ago. The description of a Zodiac sign is the sign that appears when the Sun sets in the evening. When the signs were first chosen, there were twelve signs, which are the ones that make up the twelve signs of the Zodiac today. The people who study the Zodiac signs are known as Astrologers.

-

The difference between Astronomers and Astrologers is that the former study space to see what is going on outside our planet. In contrast, Astrologers look at charts and predict our day-to-day future. Calling an astronomer, or an astrologer can get their backs up and annoy them. Astronomers call astrology a fake science which gets astrologers' backs up.

-

The theory behind Astrology is that our destiny lies in the star sign that appeared as the Sun set on on the day of our birth. Since they were drawn up over 2000 years ago, the Earth's orbit around the Sun has changed as it does not orbit the same elliptical path anymore. The different orbit is due to the forces exerted on the Sun by other planets.

-

As a result of this, the Earth will travel out further from the Sun or come in nearer. Therefore when the Sun now sets, it sets in a different constellation than it did all those years ago. However, the astrology community has not changed with the times. Some astrologers do use the thirteenth star sign Zodiac. There are a few reasons why they have not been updated:

  1. Thirteen is an unlucky number

  2. Thirteen can not be split into smaller equal element groups ( Earth, Fire, Water and Air )

  3. General Reluctance to change

If you've ever wondered why your love life or fortune is going as they told you in the stars, you now know why, and this does not mean that you should automatically stop believing in the Zodiac. This page informs you of why your Zodiac prediction doesn't match. According to several reads, the ruling planet of Ophiuchus is the planetoid Chiron rather than a full planet such as Saturn. Also, in the same article, the website states on the first line that in 13 sign Astrology, constellations do not have ruling planets.

-

You can see from the picture (right) that the Sun is setting in Ophiuchus and not Sagittarius. I used Stellarium, a free application to demonstrate the point of what constellation the Sun is setting in.

Ophiuchus Facts

  • The Zodiac is an area of the sky that inhabits the area that is 8 degrees on either side of the celestial equator.

  • The Zodiac commonly refers to the twelve signs that appear when the Sun sets.

  • Ophiuchus, the Serpent Wrestler, is the thirteenth sign of the Zodiac as the Sun sets in the constellation from the end of November to the middle of December. As a result of the thirteenth sign, all constellation date ranges are wrong.

  • The planetoid Chiron is the governing planet of the sign rather than an actual planet.

  • Ophiuchus hasn't officially been assigned to an element. Still, it would probably be a fire sign pushing Sagittarius out of the position because the elements go in sequence, Fire, Earth, Air, and Water.

  • It's not a new Zodiac sign. It's always been there, and it's just been ignored by astrologers, preferring to stick with the original twelve.

  • Cetus, the Whale, is seen by some as the fourteenth sign of the Zodiac. Only those born between the 21st and 28th of March are in that group.

-

Ophiuchus Element

The twelve official Zodiac constellations can be split into four equal groups of three constellations. Adding Ophiuchus to the Zodiac constellation list makes it impossible to divide equally. The Elements follow in sequence, and the first element is Fire which Aries is then Fire, followed by Earth, Air, and Water, then repeat. The Zodiac elements are:-

  • Fire - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

  • Earth - Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

  • Air - Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

  • Water - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

If Ophiuchus were inserted, it would probably take the place of Sagittarius, and ultimately Pisces becomes a fire sign, ironic. Changing elements is one of the reasons for arguing against Ophiuchus being a Zodiac astrological sign.

-

Ophiuchian Traits

For those who follow astrology, a selected number of traits of a person born under the constellation is below.

  • Interpreter of dreams

  • Seeker of wisdom and knowledge

  • Will have a great family but have to leave home at an early age.

  • Attract good luck

  • Visionary

  • A great architect or builder

  • Authority looks upon him/her well

Ophiuchus Mythology

Ophiuchus was, according to Greek mythology, a man called Asclepius. He was the son of Apollo and Coronis, the daughter of King Phlegyas of the Lapiths. The goddess Athena gave him the power to resurrect the dead, including the more famous Orion, the hunter.

-

Asclepius was killed by a bolt of lightning from Zeus. Zeus had been requested to do so by Hades. As Asclepius was resurrecting, Hades was worried that the Underworld was not getting as many dead as he should be. He was turned into a constellation to appease Apollo, who had killed the three cyclops. The Cyclops, mystical one-eyed beings, built Zeus's thunderbolts.

-

Cetus, the Fourteenth Zodiac Sign

The Zodiac doesn't stop at the 13th. There is a fourteenth sign of the Zodiac. The fourteenth is Cetus , the giant sea monster that, according to legend, was summoned by Poseidon to eat Andromeda. Cetus was slayed by Perseus using the Pegasus, the winged Horse. Only those born between the 21st to the 28th of March belong to this tiny group of Zodiac people.

Lyrics

Ophiuchus, the 13th sign of the zodiac

Ophiuchus, you were olymp´s pleasure

Ophiuchus, you were an intelligent creature

Ophiuchus, you were humanity´s benefactor

Ophiuchus, you were a hopeful future

begotten and rescued by the gods, olymp´s pleasure

protected by the gods as child so weak

in existence most intelligent creature

used your skills and achieved things so great

you had your chance, a hopeful future

sent on probation as humanity´s benefactor

but then you trampled the rules of life and death, stood over

pretentiously you thought you´re a god and creator

Ophiuchus, Serpentus, the carrier of the snake, Ophiuchus

Ophiuchus, Serpentus, the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus

but then you trampled the rules of life and death, overbearing

you got involved with opponents against you cannot win

you committed the ultimate mortal sin

crushed and destroyed by an almighty lightning

Ophiuchus, Serpentus, the carrier of the snake, Ophiuchus

Ophiuchus, Serpentus, the 13th sign of the zodiac, Ophiuchus

the carrier of the snake, the 13th sign of the zodiac

you ignored the rules of life and death, stood over

pretentiously you thought you´re a god and creator

now you are punished with contempt,

are damned to eternal inactivity in the firmament

have a right to exist no longer

Ophiuchus, only dark thoughts can remember

the only sense you can find

set an example for mankind

but then you trampled the rules of life and death, overbearing

you committed the ultimate mortal sin

the only sense you can find

set an example for mankind.

Ophiuchus Astrology

Ophiuchus (/ˌɒfiˈjuːkəs/; Ancient Greek: Ὀφιοῦχος, lit. 'Serpent-bearer'; astrological symbol ⛎) has sometimes been suggested in sidereal astrology as a 13th astrological sign in addition to the 12 signs of the tropical zodiac. The constellation Ophiuchus, as defined by the 1930 International Astronomical Union's constellation boundaries, is situated behind the sun from November 29 to December 18.

-

The idea appears to have originated in 1970 with Steven Schmidt's suggestion of a 14-sign zodiac, also including Cetus as a sign. A 13-sign zodiac has been promulgated by Walter Berg and by Mark Yazaki in 1995, a suggestion that achieved some popularity in Japan, where Ophiuchus is known as Hebitsukai-za (蛇遣座, "The Serpent Bearer").

-

However, in sidereal and tropical astrology (including sun sign astrology), a 12-sign zodiac is based on dividing the ecliptic into 12 equal parts rather than the IAU constellation boundaries. That is, astrological signs do not correspond to the constellations which are their namesakes, particularly not in the case of the tropical system where the divisions are fixed relative to the equinox, moving relative to the constellations.

Ophiuchus, the constellation of Revelation Nostradamus and the galactic alignment of 2012

Ophiuchus is a large constellation located around the celestial equator. Its name is from the Greek Ὀφιοῦχος "serpent-bearer", and it is commonly represented as a man grasping the snake that is represented by the constellation Serpens. Ophiuchus was one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd-century astronomer Ptolemy, and it remains one of the 88 modern constellations. It was formerly referred to as Serpentarius.

-

Ophiuchus, which the Sun would be crossing a few days before the anticipated date of the history of mankind, the December 21, 2012. In the video shown on the History Channel is talk that Nostradamus's prophecy was the alignment of Ophiuchus and the Sun with the Galactic Center, this is all prophesied in the secret book of Nostradamus, which is not proven to be totally true.

-

This book was found in 1982 by the Italian researcher Enza Massa, in the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma.

-

From the astronomical point of view, a constellation Ophiuchus is larger around the celestial Ecuador, located between Aquila, Serpens, and Hercules, northwest of the center of the galaxy, some of the star of the nearest land after Centauris Proxima. The filing of the body divides the snake constellation into two parts, Serpens Caput and Cauda Seprens (head and tail: ouroboros? Duality of destruction and rebirth?).

-

If you draw a line from the bow of Sagittarius to the top of the tail of Scorpio and draw a line, enter exact through the center of the galaxy, or the so-called dark cleft (dark rift), that the Maya knew him as the road to Xibalba, the underworld, that is where lies the constellation of Ophiuchus.

Desolate Seas - Ophiuchus

Lyrics

In the past of human race

Greek mythology spawned the serpent

Son of Apollo and a mortal woman…

He reborn the dead… the nature will be reordered

And serpent born from the sky

The thirteenth seal of life

When the sun rides beyond its cycle

The thirteenth seal of life

When the sun rides beyond its cycle

The order must be changed by the Astros

The serpent devouring the Sun

And Hell gates are open for me!(x2)

Your soul will be rewarded(x2)

By the grace of the underworld’s seal

And Serpens constellation crosses the Ophiuchus reign!

Now you can see like the serpent reigns in the sky

Changing reality… charming this lie

Ophiuchus will be reborn, the Serpent holder

Premonitions of the Ancients...

Nostradamus talked about the End of these Times!

Ophiuchus will be the thirteenth sign... the Beginning of the end

Ophiuchus will be reborn, the Serpent holder

Chorus:

I’m Ophiuchus, the serpent holder…

With my hands I revive the dead (x2)

I revive the dead...

The end is near!

I’m Ophiuchus, the serpent holder…(x3)

Premonitions of the Ancients...

Nostradamus talked about the end of these times!

Ophiuchus will be the thirteenth sign...

The beginning of the end

The end of our cosmic clock is near!

The end of our cosmic clock is near!(x3)

Look at the serpent devouring the sun

I'm ophiuchus the serpent holder!
